This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette coupe is finished in Le Mans Blue over Medium Blue vinyl and is powered by a 427ci L36 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was acquired by the seller on BaT in June 2021, and subsequent work has included replacing the power steering pump, alternator, and battery. Features include removable roof panels, retractable headlights, dual side mirrors, 15″ Rally wheels, Magnaflow mufflers, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. This C3 coupe is now offered with original purchase documents, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Le Mans Blue and is equipped with removable roof panels, retractable headlights, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, side vents, and dual exhaust outlets.
Silver-finished 15″ Rally wheels feature chrome hubcaps and trim rings and are mounted with 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Modifications performed under prior ownership include installing power assistance to the braking and steering systems as well as urethane bushings, a larger sway bar, and a fiberglass rear monospring.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in Medium Blue vinyl as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. An aftermarket shift lever is installed. The door switch was replaced in September 2021. The aftermarket radio does not work, and interior blemishes are shown in the gallery below.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a replacement tachometer. Instrumentation located in the center stack includes an inoperative analog clock along with displays for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 81k miles, approximately 800 of which were added under current ownership.
The 427ci L36 V8 was reportedly overhauled circa 2003 and fitted with a COMP Cams high-lift camshaft, roller rocker arms, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley 850 CFM carburetor, an aluminum radiator, and MSD electronic ignition. The seller reports that service since 2021 has included replacing the battery, alternator, and power steering pump in addition to performing an oil change.
The engine stamping is shown above. The IL suffix corresponds with a 390-horsepower, 427ci V8 for use with a manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission that was reportedly rebuilt and fitted with heavy-duty clutch components prior to the seller’s acquisition. The dual exhaust system features twin MagnaFlow mufflers.
