This 1974 BMW 2002tii was modified by Alpina to A4S specification and is powered by a fuel-injected 2.0L inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Finished in metallic red over multi-color Alpina fabric upholstery, the car is equipped with a front air dam, a rear spoiler, Alpina graphics, Euro-spec bumpers, 13″ Alpina wheels, front disc brakes, a Pioneer tri-band cassette stereo, a heater, and Recaro seats. The car underwent refurbishment work in 2018 while in Europe and spent time in Italy, Turkey, and France before it was imported to the US in June 2022. This 2002tii Alpina A4S was acquired by the seller on BaT in March 2023 and is now offered is now offered in Phoenix, Arizona with service records, Alpina documentation, and a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The car was originally finished in Garnet Red Metallic and was disassembled and repainted during the refurbishment in 2018. Alpina graphics were added at that time, and additional exterior details include a front air dam, a rear spoiler, vent windows, Euro-spec bumpers, headlight wipers, polished side mirrors, and twin center exhaust outlets. The drip rails, rear spoiler, and rubber seals were replaced during the refurbishment. A paint correction was performed and a ceramic coating applied to the body in March 2023.
Alpina 13″ alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Maxxis Mecotra 3 tires. The suspension features independent front and rear setups with anti-roll bars, coil springs, McPherson struts, telescopic dampers, and rear semi-trailing arms, while stopping power is provided by front ventilated disc brakes and rear drums. The calipers were rebuilt and the master cylinder, front brake rotors, and brake hoses were replaced in 2018.
The refurbishment included reupholstering the Recaro seats in black cloth with vinyl sides and blue and green-striped inserts. Additional equipment includes a wooden shift knob, a Pioneer tri-band cassette stereo, a heater, and Alpina badging. Repairs to the floor pan are noted in the records from 2017.
The Alpina-branded four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 220-km/h speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and a combination gauge for fuel level and coolant temperature along with an analog clock and four auxiliary gauges mounted across the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 31k kilometers (~19k miles), approximately 200 of which were added by the seller.
The 2.0-liter inline-four was modified by Alpina with a tuned fuel injection system, forged competition-grade pistons, and lightened and polished connecting rods, in addition to a revised cylinder head, air filter housing, and exhaust manifold. An oil change and ignition tune-up were performed in January 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The front and rear subframes were disassembled, sandblasted, and repainted, and rubber components were replaced under prior ownership.
