The fault could cause the copper cladding in the battery to fracture, potentially leading to a vehicle fire, according to the recall notice.
Honda Australia has recalled two examples of its 2022 Honda Civic E:HEV LX hybrid, citing a potential fault with the copper cladding in the vehicle’s lithium-ion battery module.
The affected vehicles are stamped 2022 models, but may have been sold at a later date.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The battery cell negative terminals within the Lithium-ion battery module were manufactured with inadequate copper cladding and may fracture. If this occurs while the battery is energised it could lead to a vehicle fire.”
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.”
