One of the students behind the University of Victoria’s participation in advanced vehicle technology competitions (AVTCs) is Jeremy Wise. In 2008, Wise and UVic professor Dr. Dong decided that they would apply to EcoCAR:The NeXt Challenge. Building a team would create an opportunity for UVic engineering students to get some invaluable training. “I wrote the majority of the proposal back in March 2008. We only had about 10 days to do so, and we were starting from scratch,” Wise said. The two managed to finish the proposal in time and a couple months later the UVic EcoCAR team was born.
