This 1970 Datsun 240Z is a Series I example that was purchased by the seller in 1982, and it is powered by a replacement 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery and equipped with dual SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, 14″ Anlin slotted-mag wheels, front disc brakes, an aftermarket front air dam, rear window louvers, a heater, and a retro-style digital radio. The cylinder head and timing chain components were replaced in November 2018, and work performed in preparation for the sale reportedly involved servicing the clutch and installing an electronic ignition system. This 240Z is now offered at no reserve in Texas with two additional transmissions, a spare engine block and other parts, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car was repainted its current shade of red around 2015, at which time most of the rubber seals were reportedly replaced. The seller states the rear bumper was replaced in 1982 while the left front fender was repaired in 1989. Additional exterior details include an aftermarket front air dam, a rear spoiler, a louvered rear window cover, and twin polished exhaust outlets. Noted blemishes include paint chips on the front air dam, paint chips and cracks on the left front fender, and a broken rear hatch hinge. The amber fog lights are not hooked up, and the windshield washer sprayers and one of the brake lights are inoperative.

The 14″ Anlin slotted-mag wheels are mounted with 215/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and a non-matching spare is stowed in the trunk. The car is said to be equipped with aftermarket springs, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl upholstery with diamond-pattern trim on the transmission tunnel and rear shock towers. A color-coordinated dash cap covers the cracked dashboard, and appointments include a wood shift knob, a heater, a removable aftermarket armrest, and a retro-style digital radio. The ignition switch was replaced in November 2018. The seller notes the driver’s window needs to be adjusted and the horn pad falls off. The seat foam padding has reportedly been replaced.

A replacement 160-mph speedometer has been installed, and the tachometer, clock, fuel level gauge, and odometer are inoperative. The five-digit odometer shows 68k miles, and the seller estimates that approximately 150k miles have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 2.8-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and electronic ignition. A remanufactured cylinder head was installed in November 2018, at which time the timing chain, water pump, starter, and ignition switch were replaced. An aluminum radiator has been installed, and the seller notes the presence of a coolant leak around the rear of the cylinder head. The hood weather stripping needs to be replaced.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed manual transmission. The rear differential mount bushing was replaced in November 2018. The clutch was reportedly serviced in preparation for the sale. An aftermarket exhaust system has been installed.
