British newcomer Ineos has unveiled the latest addition to its Grenadier range – a cab-chassis ute, allowing owners to customise the four-wheel-drive to suit their needs.

The 2024 Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab has been revealed, providing greater versatility for tradies, government departments, and off-road adventurers.

Based on the Grenadier SUV, the Chassis Cab does away with the tub normally found on the dual-cab Quartermaster ute, allowing owners to instead have their own steel or aluminium tray – or any other type of unit – built and fitted to the ladder-frame chassis.

Priced from $102,000 before on-road costs, the Grenadier Chassis Cab is $8000 cheaper than the tub-equipped version and the five-seater Grenadier Station Wagon.

Both the Grenadier Quartermaster ute and the cab-chassis model have a 3227mm wheelbase – 305mm longer than the Grenadier Station Wagon.

As with the rest of the range, the Quartermaster Chassis Cab can be optioned with either a 210kW/450Nm 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline six-cylinder engine, or a 183kW/550Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder – both sourced from BMW – and mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with low-range four-wheel drive.

The vehicles also feature heavy-duty solid beam axles and up to three locking differentials for improved off-road capability.

Ineos hasn’t said whether it will offer a tray as an option for the cab-chassis ute at this stage, nor has the company confirmed when deliveries are expected to begin. It’s also unclear if the cab-chassis body will be available in higher trim levels, as with the wagon and pick-up.

The Chassis Cab will be built alongside the rest of the Grenadier line-up at the company’s factory in Hambach, France – which was acquired from Mercedes-Benz in 2021.
