While the Toyota Rush was discontinued for the Malaysian market at the beginning of this year, the B-segemnt SUV has been given its facelift for the 2024 model year, where the Rush emerges as a GR Sport variant.

This is an update on the Indonesian-market Rush GR Sport that was introduced in 2021, and the revised model brings gloss black trim for its grille, faux honeycomb grille inserts along the lower sections of its front bumper, along with a larger skid plate-look lower section.

Also enlarged are the black protective trim along its side sill areas and wider overfender trim, while the trim section between each tail lamp assembly is now of a gloss black finish, superseding the body-coloured scheme of before.

The interior of the 2024 Toyota Rush GR Sport for Indonesia gets an overall black upholstery scheme, replacing the black and beige scheme of the previous version. Contrasting elements come courtesy of silver trim on the sides of the centre console, transmission lever surround, and steering wheel trim.

Infotainment kit in the Indonesian-market 2024 Rush GR Sport is comprised of a nine-inch Display Audio unit with ‘GR Sport’ opening sequence graphics, while GR logos are embroidered into the front seat headrests.

Safety equipment here continues as before, with basic systems including six airbags and electronic stability control, and the Indonesian-market 2024 Rush GR Sport still does without advanced assistance systems such as AEB, as found on the Malaysian-market Rush and the Perodua Aruz.

Its powertrain is carried over unchanged from the previous iteration, bringing the existing 2NR-VE 1.5 litre inline-four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that outputs 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. Drive goes to the rear wheels, with transmission being either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

In Indonesia, the 2024 Toyota Rush GR Sport is sold from Rp 299,750,000 (RM90k) for the five-speed manual, and Rp 310,450,000 (RM93k) for the four-speed auto.
