The Nissan Sunny is the best-selling vehicle in the UAE in August.
26,159 new cars found a buyer in the United Arab Emirates in August, a solid 12.7% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally is, as a result, up 10.6% to 194,328. Brand leader Toyota (-5.5%) isn’t taking advantage of the market growth and sees its share thaw slightly to a still dominant 25%. On the other hand, the next three carmakers all vastly outpace the market, with Nissan (+31.6%) in 2nd place ahead of Mitsubishi (+28.4%) and Hyundai (+32.3%). MG (-5.2%) retrogrades to #5 while Tesla is up five spots on July to #6 with 3.7% share vs. #10 and 2.8% so far this year. Ford (+68.6%) and Geely (+98.3%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 with Peugeot (+137.3%), Mercedes (+48.2%) and JAC (+32%) standing out below.
Model-wise, the Nissan Sunny (+58.9%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date with 6.2% share vs. 5.1% so far this year. The Toyota Hilux (+0.6%) is knocked down to #2 but is still strong at 4.9% share vs. 4.5% YTD. The Nissan Patrol (-9.5%) is in difficulty but stays in third place. Excellent job by the Tesla Model 3 up six ranks on last month to #4. Other splendid performances are delivered by the Peugeot 3008 (+187.4%) up to #8 potentially due to discounts on the outgoing generation, Ford Territory (+65.8%), Land Rover Defender (+61.4%) and Nissan X-Trail (+56.7%).
