“King of the Road” examples left the Ford assembly line as standard GT500s and were upgraded by the Shelby Automobiles facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. This example is finished in Brilliant Silver with blue side and over-the-top stripes and features HID headlights, fog lights, a rear spoiler, Shelby badging, polished exhaust outlets, and a carbon-fiber front splitter, mirror caps, and vented hood with satin-chrome finished hood pins.
Polished 18″ Alcoa wheels are mounted with older Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with Brembo front calipers. The Shelby GT500KR package added SVT-tuned suspension components including enhanced springs, struts, shocks, and sway bars as well as a strut tower brace.
The cabin features sport bucket seats upholstered in Dark Charcoal leather with embossed Shelby Cobra logos on the backrests. “GT500KR” and Shelby signature embroidery accent the headrests. Equipment includes a Ford Racing short-throw shifter and shifter ball as well as a Shaker 1000 sound system, ambient lighting, cruise control, and air conditioning. The Carfax report notes radio replacement in August 2010.
A serialized dashboard plaque identifies this car as the 362nd Shelby GT500KR produced for the 2009 model year.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, boost pressure, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 28 miles.
The supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V8 was factory rated at 540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. GT500KRs are equipped with the Ford Racing Power Upgrade kit with a cold-air intake and a revised H-pipe exhaust system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Ford window sticker notes initial shipment to Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas, Nevada, and lists factory equipment, colors, options, and a total MSRP of $46,630. A Shelby window sticker and certificate of authenticity are also included in the sale along with accessories and spare parts.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
